Judith DeVries

Judith's Biography

Judith DeVries is the faculty founder and instructor at the St. Leonard's Adult High School, which helps male and female ex-offenders earn high school diplomas. Prior to her work at St. Leonard's, DeVries spent 20 years in the corporate world. She also helped establish the first hospice in North Carolina, where she served on both state and local hospice boards.

DeVries has earned a bachelor's and master's degree through the School for New Learning at DePaul University. She is currently working on her Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in Higher Education at Walden University.

DeVries' dissertation is on experiential learning and assessing the development of critical-thinking skills. She is using her research to measure the effectiveness of the programs at St. Leonard's and to revise and refine the curriculum.
